Editing the Substantiation Declaration

From Tax 2015 onwards the Substantiation declaration format has been updated to comply with industry standards. The declaration now prints on two pages to accommodate the additional information.

At the top of the declaration you will see the agent's first name and the last name or the practice name. These details are picked up from Control Record > Names tab.

To edit the Substantiation Declaration

Open any tax return from the year that you wish to edit the template.

For example 2018 Tax return.

  1. Follow the menu path: Maintenance > Letter writing > Tax Practice letters.
  2. Double click on the letter template SubDecCP - Substantiation Declaration (New).

    If the SubDecCP - Substantiation Declaration (New) layout is missing, click to see the instructions to transfer Master Letters.

    Transferring Master Letters

    Open any tax return from the year that you wish to edit the template. For example 2015 Tax return

    1. Select Maintenance > Letter writing > Transfer Master letters. The Record Selection screen opens.

    2. Click OK with By Range selected.

    3. Click Yes to transfer SubDecCP - Substantiation Declaration (New).

      If you click All, the routine will transfer all of the Master practice layouts to the client level and will override any customisations.

  3. The layout the letter template can now be edited.

    If the you need to remove the agents first name and the last name or practice name from the top of the letter, please remove ^A290 from the layout.

  4. Click OK to save and exit from the letter template and then Close the Client layouts window.
