Error: "2343 specified path is empty"

When uninstalling/re-installing MYOB Accountants Enterprise (AE) Practice Manager workstation/client install, you may receive the error "Error 2343: specified path is empty".

To successfully complete this process, ensure the VPM key exists in the registry and shows the correct value.

To check/edit the registry

On the affected workstation:

  1. From the Start menu, select Run. The Run window opens.
  2. Type regedit and click OK. The Registry Editor window opens.
  3. Navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Wow6432Node > MYOB > VPM

    If this key does not exist, right-click on the MYOB key and from the New menu, select Key and call it VPM.
  4. Ensure the DeployFolder string exists and points to the correct Central share; for example \\server\central.

    If this string does not exist, right-click on the VPM key and from the New menu, select String Value and call it DeployFolder.
  5. Close the registry.
