Error: "ActiveX component can't create object"

This support note applies to:

• AE Reporter (NZ)
• AE Reporter (AU)

In MYOB Accountants Enterprise Reporter (AE Reporter) you may experience the error "ActiveX component can't create object" when attempting to export from AE Reporter to Excel.

An Excel file with a random name is created in the destination folder. When attempting to open the randomly named file, the message "The file format and extension of <filename> don't match. The file could be corrupted or unsafe. Unless you trust its source, don't open it. Do you want to open it anyway?" displays.

To open the report in Excel

Either:

• Export the file to .csv and then open the file in Excel.
• Export to .doc or .pdf.
