Error: "An error occurred in the trigger / stored procedure...." when updating Extra Field

In MYOB Accountants Enterprise Practice Manager (AEPM) you may receive the following error when updating an Extra field within the client's Extra tab:
"An error occurred in the trigger / stored procedure 'AfAo_sp_DoUdfUpdate' on line 395.   Error number: 50000. Error Message:  The contact with the AoContactIdentifier 'xx' does not exist in the database 'AoSource_AEDB1' An error occurred in the trigger / stored procedure 'AfAo_sp_DoUdfUpdate' on line 395. Error number: 50000".

This error occurs after you have added a new value to an existing Extra List in AEPM but there is no corresponding value in Accountants Office (AO) Classic.

To resolve to error you need to perform the following steps:

Disable the AO Classic integration
 Edit NewAOLink.config in the AO Classic DATA folder and change the value from NewAOLink:3 to NewAOLink:0.
Update the employee in AO Classic
 In AO Classic, select Tools > Options > UDF's, add the new staff members to the UDF section and then close out of AO Classic.
Re-enable the AO Classic integration
 Edit NewAOLink.config in the AO Classic DATA folder and change the value from NewAOLink:0 to NewAOLink:3.
Update clients in AE
 Log into AEPM, open the relevant client and select the new staff member in the Value field under Extra tab.
