Error: "Environment Error 26: A disk or network error occurred when accessing the database"

In MYOB Accountants Enterprise Accounts version 6.41 & 8.25 you may experience the error "Environment Error 26:  A disk or network error occurred when accessing the database" when opening Client Compliance or Accounts. 

This error appears where the user doesn't have access to the shared location where Accounts or Client Compliance is installed.

To resolve this error, map a network drive to this location using the following command:

To map the network drive
  1. Click on the Windows Start button and type cmd.
  2. Right-click on Command Prompt and choose Run as Administrator. The Administrator: Command Prompt window appears.
  3. Type the following command and press ENTER.

    Net use X: \\<ServerName>\<ShareName>
    Where X is the drive letter, <ServerName> is the machine name of the server, and <ShareName> is the folder where AE is installed.
