Error: "Error occurred when posting journal" when posting to AccountRight

This support note applies to:

  • Workpapers (NZ)
  • AO Workpapers (AU)
  • AE Workpapers (AU)
Article ID: 37575

In MYOB Accountants Enterprise (AE) or Accountants Office (AO) Workpapers when posting transactions to an AccountRight file, you may experience the error "Error occurred when posting journal: <Journal Desc> with message: Error adding journal: TaxTransactionComponent_PostableAccountRequired".

To be able to post this transaction successfully, in the AccountRight file, ensure all the GST codes have the required linked accounts.

To review and add linked accounts
  1. Open the AccountRight file and from the Lists menu, select Tax Codes. The Tax Code List appears.
  2. Open the N-T code and enter the account codes for:
Linked Account for Tax Collected; and
    Linked Account for Tax Paid.
    The linked codes are entered.
  3. Click OK. The N-T tax code is updated.

When you create a new account in MYOB Workpapers, it automatically uses the Not Reportable (N-T) tax code for those accounts. If entering Tax Codes for the N-T tax code does not resolve the issue, repeat these steps for all other tax codes where transactions are posting from MYOB Workpapers.
