Error: "Licence File in install mode cannot be the same as the live licence file"

When installing MYOB Accountants Enterprise or MYOB Accountants Office, you may experience the following error "Licence File in install mode cannot be the same as the live licence file" during the installation.

This error can occur as a result of duplicate licence files, normally as a result of a previously failed installation attempt.

To resolve this message, you need to delete/rename these licence files and re-run the installer.

To delete/rename the licence files

  1. At the Start menu and click or type Run and press Enter.
  2. Type the one of following commands and press Enter:
    C:\Program Files\MYOB\MYOBACCT\INSTALL
    or
    C:\Program Files (x86)\MYOB\MYOBACCT\INSTALL
    The Windows Explorer folder window appears.
  3. Delete or rename the MYOBRego folder. Close the Window Explorer window.

    If no MYOBRego folder exists, continue to the next step.
  4. At the Start menu click or type Run and press Enter. The Run window appears.
  5. Type %temp% and press Enter. The Windows Explorer folder window appears.
  6. Search for for lic.ini in Windows Explorer  and delete or rename any results that appear. The lic.ini files are now deleted/renamed.
  7. Re-run the installation.
