Error: "Login failed for user LASTNAME\First name" when running a tax database upgrade

During the installation of MYOB Tax on a site using PLS (CloudAuth) to lodge you may experience the error "Login failed for user LASTNAME\First name running a tax database upgrade".

This error occurs when the database upgrade has failed and the log file states the above error it indicates this user does not have sysadmin rights within SQL Server Management Studio.

Please log into Windows on the server with the original administrator login that installed SQL. Once this has been done you need to a run a repair. 

If this does not resolve the issue, please contact MYOB support and quote KB 38621.

Please do not run the database upgrade manually.

 Instead, login as a Windows user who is a sysadmin or create the current Windows user and add as a sysadmin.

 Run the query:

use AETAX
update DatabaseInformation
Set DatabaseStatusId='3'

 Then advise the client to run a repair
