Error: "SBR.GEN.FAULT.FAULTFROMAGENCY" when pre-filling PLS Activity Statements

This support note applies to:

  • AE Tax Series 6 & 8 (AU)
  • AE Tax (AU)
  • AO Tax (AU)
Article ID: 31940595

In MYOB Tax, when pre-filling PLS Activity Statements, you may see a rejection:

Code: SBR.GEN.FAULT.INTERNALERROR SBR.GEN.FAULT.FAULTFROMAGENCY"

Fields:

Summary:

This means that the ATO has encountered an unexpected error when processing the Activity statements.

You will see this error if

  • the ABN entered in the Activity statement is not registered for GST or has been cancelled
  • there is no obligation for the reporting period entered the Activity Statement.
  • the Simpler BAS option selected in the Activity statement is incorrect.

You'll also see this error if you've not entered the Branch code for the ABN. If the ABN entered on the form has multiple branches, you'll need to enter the correct branch code that matches with that period and DIN.

The easiest way to get the correct branch code is to use the Activity Statement Lodgment Report (ASLRPT) to pre-fill your form. The branch code will be pre-filled from the data in the ASLRPT.

Or if you're manually creating the form and not using the ALSRPT then you'll need to enter the branch code manually. If you're not sure of the branch code check the ATO Tax Agent Portal or call the ATO.

If you've checked all of the above and still getting the rejection, contact the ATO Intermediaries and Lodgments service on 13 72 86 to find out the what the issue is. See Tax agent phone services (Fast Key Code) guide for more information.
