When you attempt to configure an MYOB Accountants Office (AO) General Ledger into Accountants Enterprise (AE) Client Accounting (CA) you may experience the error "There is a problem connecting to your MYOB AO Classic application and/or database. Please check your system configuration."

This can occur if the AE CA cannot locate or obtain access to the AO General Ledger data.

To successfully configure the AO General Ledger, add the AODataSource record with the AO data location into the Configuration in AE. This provides the location for the data.

If you still experience difficulties configuring the AO General Ledger, ensure you are logged into AE as a user in AO which has access to the General Ledger application.

To add the configuration details
  1. Open MYOB AE and follow the menu path: Maintenance > User Defined > Configuration. The Maintenance - Configuration tab opens.
  2. In the first empty row of the configuration table, enter the following details:

    Key NameKey Value
AoDatasourcethe folder location of your AO Classic data (e.g. M:\MYOBAO\Data)
  3. Press the ENTER on the keyboard. The AoDatasource key is added to the Configuration table.
  4. In the first empty row of the configuration table, enter the following details:

    Key NameKey Value
    AOBinProfile

if you would like to use a specific database enter the database name, otherwise leave this field blank.

    For example:

  5. Press the ENTER on the keyboard. The AoDatasource key is added to the Configuration table.
To allow access to the AO General Ledger

Refer to the Configuring security section in Setting up security in MYOB Accountants Office to add rights to the General Ledger to the required user.

Alternatively, add the rights to the General Ledger to a group, then assign the user to the relevant group which has rights to the General Ledger.
