Error: "There was a problem connecting to the database" during the AO installation

In MYOB Accountants Office (MYOB AO), you may experience the following error "There was a problem connecting to the database" when installing MYOB AO.

Before installing, the installation wizard attempts to log in to your existing SQL database.  This error can happen if

if the SQL login ID and password are incorrect when trying to connect to SQL database.

To fix the error:

  • Enter the correct login and password combination for the SQL database. The default database credentials are:

Login ID: sa
Password: enter your sa password

If you’re using Windows authentication, make sure that the administrator has SQL sysadmin rights.

If you are experiencing a problem entering your database credentials, please consult with your IT Specialist to confirm your SQL server login type, ID and password.

Incorrect SQL server name

If the error message shows an incorrect SQL server name, contact MYOB support.
