Error: There was a problem reading this document (14)" or displays blank

This support note applies to:

  • PDF Manager (AU)
  • PDF Manager (NZ)
Article ID: 32938

In MYOB PDF Manager you may experience the following error "There was a problem reading this document (14)" or displays blank when previewing a PDF file or saving a document from PDF Manager to a network location.

For example, import a document into PDF Manager and collate with a few other documents and then re-save it to the network. Repeat these steps a number of times. When the final document is opened at a later time an error appears Adobe Reader "There was an error processing the page. There was a problem reading this document (14)".

PDF Manager is unable to read the source file correctly from the Watchfolder

If the error occurs when importing the document from the Watchfolder you will need to bypass PDF Manager and import it directly to MYOB Document Manager (DM).

To import the file directly in DM you need to complete the following steps:

  1. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the file.
  2. Highlight the file, right click and select SendTo > MYOB Share It. The Create Document Wizard appears.
  3. Complete the Profiling wizard to save the file in MYOB Document Manager.
The PDF Document has been reworked

If you have reworked the document you will need to print the document back to PDF Manager, instead of importing it when collating with other documents.

To print the document back to PDF Manager, open the file in Adobe Reader and follow the menu path: File > Print and select PDF Manager Printer.

If you choose to print to PDF Manager you will lose Optical Character Recognition (OCR). This is the ability to keyword search inside the PDF file.

MYOB is investigating this issue.
