Error: "Your computer is using an incompatible mail system"

This support note applies to:

  • AO Tax (AU)
  • AE System Release (AU)
  • AE Tax (AU)

In MYOB Accountants Enterprise (AE) and Accountants Office (AO) Tax you may experience the error  "Your computer is using an incompatible mail system" when generating the Tax Office Copy PDF to attach to an email.

This error occurs if you're using Office 2016 or Office 2019.

To resolve this error
  1. From within a tax return: Go to Reports > Tax Office Copy PDF.
  2. Ensure that only the Save a PDF file to disk option is selected and click Next.

    Un-tick the Encrypt the PDF file checkbox. If this is ticked you'll need to notify the client of the PDF Password which is in the Return Properties.
  3. Click Browse.

    Specify the location where you want to have this PDF file saved to.
  4. Click Save and Next.
  5. Click Finish. The PDF file is generated and saved to your specified location.
  6. Using Windows Explorer, locate and attach the PDF file to your email. The PDF file is attached to the email.
