Error: "Your current version of Accountants Office is out of date"

When opening MYOB Accountants Office (AO) Classic you may experience the error "Your current version of Accountants Office is out of date".

This can occur when the version of the Accountants Office program file doesn’t match the version of the data. Ensure that you have the latest version of Accountants Office.

If the error occurs on a stand-alone computer or a single computer on a network, rename C:\Program Files\Accountants Office and then re-install Accountants Office.

If the error occurs on all computers on a network, rename M:\MYOBAO\Setup and then re-install AO Classic. Then on each computer, rename C:\Program Files\Accountants Office and run Update Accountants Office.

Stand-alone installation of Accountants Office

Start Windows Explorer. Windows Explorer starts.
Navigate to and single-click the Accountants Office program folder so that it highlights. For example, C:\Program Files\Accountants Office. The Accountants Office program folder highlights.
From the File menu, select Rename. The cursor flashes at the end of the Accountants Office program folder name.
Rename the folder to Accountants Office 1 by typing Accountants Office 1 and then press ENTER. The Accountants Office program folder appears as Accountants Office 1.

Use another name if Accountants Office 1 already exists.
Re-install Accountants Office using the latest CD. The Accountants Office installation wizard starts.
Complete the steps of the installation wizard. Accountants Office installs.
Re-install the updates so that you are running the latest version of Accountants Office.

You can now restart Accountants office without experiencing this error.

A computer on a networked installation of Accountants Office

Start Windows Explorer. Windows Explorer starts.
Navigate to and single-click the Accountants Office program folder so that it highlights. For example, C:\Program Files\Accountants Office. The Accountants Office program folder highlights.

All computers on a networked installation of Accountants Office

Start Windows Explorer. Windows Explorer starts.
Navigate to and single-click the Setup folder, which is a sub-folder of the MYOBAO folder, that is located on the network drive. For example, X:\MYOBAO\Setup. The Setup folder highlights.
From the File menu, select Rename. The cursor flashes at the end of the Setup folder name.
Rename the folder to Setup1 by typing Setup1 and then press ENTER. The Setup folder appears as Setup1.

Use another name if Setup 1 already exists.
Re-install Accountants Office using the latest CD. The Accountants Office installation wizard starts.
Complete the steps of the installation wizard. Accountants Office installs.
Re-install the updates so that you are running the latest version of Accountants Office.
On an affected computer, start Windows Explorer. Windows Explorer starts.
Navigate to and single-click the Accountants Office program folder so that it highlights. For example, C:\Program Files\Accountants Office. The Accountants Office program folder highlights.
From the File menu, select Rename. The cursor flashes at the end of the Accountants Office program folder name.
