When accessing MYOB applications you may experience the error "Your licence file is not valid for this computer.  Please contact MYOB Support".

The licence has an encrypted hostname in it and if this is occurring on all workstations the error can be because the hostname in the licence does not match the hostname of the machine where the licence files reside.  This most commonly occurs after a server migration where you copied the license file from one server to another.

To resolve this, you need to rename the existing licence file, install a new licence file and then re-register the new licence. If you are using PLS CloudAUTH lodgement you will also need to on board again as your SoftwareID will have changed.

Call MYOB Support and quote KB 29794

MYOB INTERNAL STAFF ONLY

To rename the licence files

  • Navigate to the Registration\sys\bin folder. Usually this is located in:

AO: C:\MYOBAO\AOSQL\Registration\sys\bin
AE: C:\MYOBAE\AESQL\Registration\sys\bin
AE: C:\S6SYSTEM\MYOBAE\Registration\sys\bin

  • Ensure hidden files are turned on in Windows Explorer:

Windows 7/Server 2008 R2: Tools > Folder options > View tab.
Windows 8/8.1/10/Server 2012/2012 R2: View > Untick the option Hidden Files

  • Once in the bin folder rename the lic.ini file to lic.ini.old.

How to re-install Licensing

  • Hold down the Shift key and right click the Registration folder > Select Open command window here then run the relevant command:

AO: AERego.exe -InstallMode -AO -NoBackButton
AE: AERego.exe -InstallMode -AE -NoBackButton

How to register the AE applications

You will then be presented with a blank registration screen. Check in Archie and add the relevant products and users and enter the registration code. Alternatively, check in the Licensing team room

On board again if using PLS CloudAUTH lodgement refer to:  Lodgment Manager setup.
