The Data Execution Prevention options allow you to apply security settings as required. There are 2 options:

  • Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only
  • Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.

The first option, Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only is switched on by default for Windows Server 2008, but not for Windows 7. We recommend ensuring this setting is applied prior to installing MYOB software.

To apply Data Execution Protection (DEP) settings

  1. From the desktop, right-click on the Windows Start (
) icon and choose Control Panel from the menu.
  2. From the Control Panel, click System.
  3. Click Advanced System Settings.
  4. Click the Advanced tab, then under the Performance heading click Settings. The Performance Options window appears.
  5. Click the Data Execution Prevention tab.
  6. Select the Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only option and click OK.

After performing the steps above, restart the workstation to ensure these settings are applied.
