Microsoft Office 2510 update affecting MYOB AE/AO
On 4 November 2025, Microsoft released an update for versions of Microsoft Office applications to version 2510, which introduced issues affecting customers using Microsoft Office applications. This affects anyone who uses Microsoft Office – not just MYOB customers.
If you use Microsoft Word to open any documents in your MYOB software, you may notice that the document layout has shifted or the document may not even open.
In some cases, Word may not open at all, though it appears as a background task in Windows Task Manager.
In AE/AO, you may experience issues as listed below.
Practice Manager issues
When generating a Bill from Practice Manager, some parts of the bill - especially from the footer such as the payment provider logos – may have shifted elsewhere on the bill, generally over the top of other text.
Previously generated bills may display layout issues when reviewed.
Bills previously saved as Word documents may also show these layout distortions.
Document Manager issues
Documents opened from Document Manager may cause Word to stall at the splash screen, with the message Word is finalising analysing your document, but the document doesn't open.
When attempting to open or profile an email saved from Outlook to Document Manager, you may get the error The text formatting command is not available.
Tax issues
When using Tax Letters, you may see formatting/layout issues, or Word may not open with the generated letter as expected.
The issue is due to a Microsoft Office update
This issue is happening due to the changes introduced by Microsoft in their latest Microsoft Office 2510 update. These are not caused by MYOB software. We know this affects Office 365. Office 2021 and Office 2024 might be affected too.
We’ve been in active discussions with Microsoft, and their team is working on a resolution.
Roll back the Office update to resolve the issue
To resolve the issue, you’ll need to rollback the Microsoft Office version from 2510 to 2509 and disable any Office updates temporarily.
Temporary workaround
Microsoft have provided guidance to roll back the Microsoft Office version from 2510 to 2509 and disable updates temporarily. This rollback resolves the issues in your MYOB software.
Follow the article below for instructions.
For Office 2024 and earlier versions,
While we don’t expect that Office 2021 will be impacted, it’s important to be aware that there might be a need to roll back that version.
Check when to re-enable your updates
Microsoft recommends monitoring these articles and release notes to determine when it’s safe to re-enable updates.
