PLS reports takes long time to load

This support note applies to:

  • AE Tax Series 6 & 8 (AU)
  • AE Tax (AU)
  • AO Tax (AU)
Article ID: 52693973

In MYOB Tax, you might notice PLS reports taking a long time to open, no matter if you open it from Agent Reports, Tax - Client Search or from within a tax return.

This is because there are too many reports in the folder where PLS reports are downloaded.

PLS reports include:

  • income tax client list report
  • EFT reconciliation report
  • validation reports.

You can improve the performance of PLS reports by moving old reports out of the SBR folder. For example, if you don't currently need EFT or validation reports from 2018, create a new folder and move the reports there.

There are other factors that can slow down the performance of MYOB Tax. For example, your workstations might not meet the minimum system requirements. See Experiencing slowness on workstations using MYOB AE or AO software.

To improve the performance of the PLS reports
  1. On your workstation, open windows explorer and go to the drive where AE/AO tax is installed.
  2. In the installed location, go to the TA\SBR folder. You can find the TA\SBR folder in one of two places, where X:\ is your installed location:

    • X:\MYOBAE\AESQL\TAX\TA\<Taxdatabasename>\SBR\<AgentTAN>

    • X:\sol64\TA\<Taxdatabasename>\SBR\<AgentTAN> where X:\ is your installed location.

You'll see a folder for each tax year.

  3. In the same location as the TA\SBR folder, create a new folder called Archived PLS reports.

  4. Cut the files you want to archive and paste them into the Archived PLS reports folder. PLS reports in MYOB Tax will now open more quickly.

After you've cut and pasted the files, you won't be able to view them in MYOB Tax. To view them again, you need to move the files into the respective tax year folder.

Info for Support analyst

Step the client through this process and do not do it for them. It is the clients' responsibility to maintain their PLS reports.
