In MYOB Accountants Enterprise (AE) you may experience the error "The database AETAX1 is reaching its maximum allowed size for the version of SQL Server installed" when performing a Datasafe backup.

This error occurs when the database is near the size limit.

To resolve this error run the SQL database shrinker in DataSafe to compact an SQL or MSDE database.

When you perform the DataSafe backup, this process checks if the AE Tax MSDE\SQL database is nearing the size limit and therefore requires compacting.

How to run the SQL Shrinker utility
  1. Open DataSafe and click Support Tools.
  2. Select SQL Shrinker from the Utility drop-down list in the bottom half of this window, then click Run Now.
  3. Click on the Next button to continue.
  4. Select the required server in the Server Name drop down list. The Program defaults to Use MSyncUser login account which will work for compacting any of the AE Tax databases.

You may use this utility on any SQL database by using the appropriate login for the database you wish to compact.

  5. Click Next to continue.
  6. Highlight the database you want to shrink. The wizard defaults to set 10% for free space, this amount should not be changed unless otherwise advised by MYOB Support.
  7. Click Next to continue.
  8. Click Finish to complete the wizard.
