Save With Contact not appearing in Microsoft Word

This support note applies to:

  • Profiles (AU)
  • AE Tax Series 6 & 8 (AU)

The Save with Contact option under the File menu may be missing from Microsoft Word.

To restore this function, perform the following:

 

Run a workstation setup
  1. In Contacts, from the Help menu, select About MYOB Contacts. The About MYOB AE Contacts screen appears.
  2. Click Application details. The MYOB AE Contacts Application Details screen appears.
  3. Note the Installed Location, eg s:\MYOB\bin and click OK. The About MYOB AE Contacts screen appears.
  4. Click Close. The Contacts screen appears.
  5. At the windows desktop, click Start and select Run. The Run window appears.
  6. Type s:\MYOB\setup in the Open field where s:\MYOB\bin is your program directory.
  7. Double-click Setup.exe.
  8. Once the workstation setup has been completed, reboot your workstation.
  9. Open Word to see if the menu item Save with Contact has been added. If it is still missing, complete the next task.
Copy add-in files to the Word startup folder
  1. In Contacts, from the Help menu, select About MYOB Contacts. The About MYOB AE Contacts screen appears.
  2. Click Application details. The MYOB AE Contacts Application Details screen appears.
  3. Note the Installed Location, e.g. s:\MYOB and click OK. The About MYOB AE Contacts screen appears.
  4. Click Close. The Contacts screen appears.
  5. At the Windows desktop, click Start and select Run. The Run screen appears.
  6. Type s:\MYOB\ in the Open field and click OK, where s:\MYOB is your program directory. The files within this directory appear.
  7. Copy the required file.
    • If running Office 2003, navigate to the Office 2003 folder, hold your CTRL key, select CNEW97.dot and CSave97.dot, and then from the Edit menu, select Copy.
    • If running Office 2007 or 2010, navigate to the Office 2007 folder, and select SaveWith12.dotm, and then from the Edit menu, select Copy.
    The files are copied to the clipboard.
  8. Paste the files to the startup location specific to the version of Microsoft Word on your workstation. This location may change dependent on your network setup and version of Office. It is most commonly found at:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\startup (Office 12 for 2007, Office 14 for 2010).

To check that the add-Ins have been set up

  1. Open the Add-ins screen in Word.
    • In Word 2003, go to the Tools > Add-ins.
    • In Word 2007 go to Office Button > Excel Options > Add-ins.
    • In Word 2010, go to File > Options > Add-ins.
  2. Ensure that the tick is selected for CNEW97.dot and CSAVE97.dot in the Checked items are currently loaded field.
  3. For Word 2007 & 2010, check that the SaveWith12.dotm file shows up under the Active Application Add-ins heading in the Add-ins table.
