Setting up shareholders or directors in MYOB AO

To add a shareholder

In AO Practice Manager, open the client and go to the Associated tab.
Select Add from the Task Bar.
Select Is shareholder off/has shareholder and the relevant contact from the Contact search. The Relationship defaults to Is Shareholder of.

To select the contact click on the magnifying glass icon in the Contact field.

If the shareholder contact isn't set up as a contact it should be added separately by clicking the Add New Contact button and following the screen prompts.
Click the Invert button. The relationship inverts to Has Shareholder.
Click OK to save the changes. A message appears: The Relationship details required for Tax and Corporate Affairs must be entered in AO Classic.
Select the task Edit additional relationship details. The AO Classic Client > Relationships screen opens.
Enter the share information for each shareholder.

Partnerships, trustees and directors are entered in the same way by first entering the appropriate information on the Associated tab in AO Practice Manager and then opening AO Classic to enter the detail on the Relationships tab.

This is applicable to New Zealand AO clients and a small number of clients using AE linking to Classic.
