In MYOB Document Manager (DM) the function keys for the DM Toolbar are greyed out when opening a Microsoft Word or Excel file.

This can be caused by special characters that may appear in the file name such as - * ? / \ : " < > | and this will result in the file not being able to be opened.

To resolve this issue remove special characters from the Title field then the DM toolbar buttons will show correctly.

To remove special characters from the Title field
  1. Right click on the document and select Properties. The Document Properties window opens.
  2. In the Title field of the document, remove any and all special characters. The title of the file is edited.
  3. Click OK. The Document Properties window saves the changes and closes.
