Two-factor authentication (2FA) changes in AE/AO when accessing MYOB Practice and AE/AO ledger

Background

In line with industry standards and government regulatory guidelines, we're introducing 2FA prompts when you access MYOB online workflows from AE/AO.  This will add an extra layer of security when accessing sensitive data such as tax, accounting, client information etc using MYOB, and help protect your clients' data.

With 2FA, the second layer of protection is using a method only you can access, like your email inbox or mobile device.

You'll be prompted to authenticate via Two Factor Authentication (2FA) for online software such as MYOB Practice and AE/AO ledger when accessed from AE/AO. You may already have 2FA setup if you access them directly

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is mandatory and cannot be turned off.

What are the changes?

You may have already setup 2FA for other MYOB softwares, and now we’ve turned it on for AE/AO users using MYOB Practice and AE/AO ledger online.

We understand that this may be an extra step to log in to your software, but it's important to protect your data and keep unauthorized users out of your MYOB software.

Setting up 2FA

If you have setup 2FA already

When you access MYOB Practice or AE/AO ledger from AE/AO, you’ll need to now enter the MYOB credentials and authenticate using 2FA.

If you haven’t setup 2FA

When you access MYOB Practice or AE/AO ledger from AE/AO, use your email address and password to sign in. Then you'll need to set up 2FA by adding the preferred authentication method.

To setup 2FA, you need to select from the following methods:

  • Authenticator app (recommended) on a mobile phone or tablet – the code displays in the app

  • SMS – the code is sent to your mobile phone via text message

  • email – the code is sent to the email address linked to your MYOB account. Only available if you set it up when you first set up 2FA.

Learn more on how to setup

When you create a new employee in AE/AO, you’ll need to setup 2FA for them.
