Article ID: 32475

In MYOB Accountants Office Classic (AO Classic) when the Report Masters have been updated, there will be new account codes added.

Each client ledger will need to be updated to the latest chart of accounts to pick up the new accounts from the latest relevant template.

To update the Chart of Accounts
  1. In the Select General Ledger screen select the client and click on Open. The client ledger opens.

  2. Go to General Ledger menu, select Account Utilities, then select Update Accounts from a Standard. The Update Accounts Wizard opens.

  3. Select the latest template that relates to the client entity type you are updating. e.g. If it is a Sole Trader, select 10 Sole Trader Template - FRS.

  4. Click Next to continue.Step 2 of wizard opens.

  5. Untick "Account Description" but leave the other characteristics ticked. Click Next to open Step 3 of the wizard.

  6. Select your Update Options, referring to the table below if necessary.

    Option

    Description

Print a list of accounts that exist in the Current Ledger's Chart of Accounts, but do not exist in the Standard?

This list is a useful first step toward comparing the existing options with the new ones.

Add Accounts that are present in the Standard Chart of Accounts, but not in the current ledger?

This option adds any accounts from the Standard to the current client (e.g. if the corresponding account code does not exist). To select which accounts to add, select Pick from List, otherwise Add automatically will add all relevant accounts.

Update accounts even where description does not match?

If this option is selected, the program will look at the description of the account in the standard ledger and in the client ledger, and will override the description to use that in the standard ledger if the descriptions don't match.

  7. Click Next.
  8. Click Finish to complete the procedure.
