Function Keys

Accountants Enterprise only

Throughout Central Database, from any index, these features are available:

Properties: When you activate this button, it will display the details of the item in focus. You may edit these details if required.

New: When you activate this button, it will prompt you to create a new item.

Delete: When you activate this button, it will prompt you to delete the item in focus.

Cancel: When you activate this button, it will cancel the process, and close the index.

Navigating a window

The following key strokes can be used to navigate through a window:

  • [Ctrl+Tab] To cycle through the tabcards.

  • [Tab] To cycle through the buttons and input fields.

  • [Alt+Underlined Letter] For example press [Alt+C] to cancel and close the window.

  • [Arrow keys] To move through the buttons and then press [Enter].

Creating an Item

The following key strokes will create a new item within an index:

  • [Alt+N] This will activate the New button.

  • [Alt+F] To open the File menu then select the New option.

  • [Ctrl+Insert] This is a standard insert key.

  • [Shift+Insert] This is a standard insert key.

For [Shift+Insert] to work the [Num Lock] key must be turned off.

Editing an Item

The following key strokes will allow you to edit an item within an index:

  • [Alt+P] This will activate the Properties button.

  • [Alt+F] To open the File menu then select the Edit option.

Deleting an Item

The following key strokes will allow you to delete an item whilst in an index:

  • [Alt+D] This will activate the Delete button.

  • [Alt+F] To open the File menu then select the Delete option.

  • [Ctrl+Delete] This is a standard delete key.

  • [Shift+Delete] This is a standard delete key. The [Num Lock] key must be off.

Other Function Keys

Detailed below are some of the other function keys available in Central Database:

  • [F10] will open a pick-list for you to select from. This key will also change the sequence of the main contacts index to alternate code, alphabetic code, and the filtered sequence.

  • [F9] will allow you to filter the contacts displayed in the main contacts index when at the filtered sequence.

  • [F6] or OK will save any data entered on a window and close the window.

  • [Esc] will exit the function that you are performing and not save any changes or data entered.

  • [F1] will display the Help text for the window displayed.
