Using the Practice Manager Plus Configuration wizard

Accountants Enterprise with Practice Manager only

The Configuration Wizard is available where AE Tax and Practice Manager are installed.

The Practice Manager Configuration Wizard opens when the Key Attributes Mapping Wizard finishes. The wizard has four steps:

1. AE Tax return data mappings to MYOB AE client data
  1. Map the Address Types to be used on tax return Front Covers. For each tax front cover address usage (Postal Address, Home Address and Business Address), select the corresponding Address Type in MYOB AE from the drop-down list of Address Types.

  2. Map the Responsibilities to be used on the Staff tab of the tax return Properties. For each Staff role available in AE Tax (Partner, Manager and Employee), select the corresponding Responsibility Type in MYOB AE from the drop-down list of Responsibility Types. The Partner for the tax return can be mapped to the Partner Responsibility of the client or to one of the Team Responsibilities. For example you may have created a Responsibility Type of Tax Partner.

  3. Click Next to go to the next step of the wizard.

2. Staff Responsibility — differences between AE Tax and MYOB AE

This step displays the unlodged tax returns for the current tax year where any of the Staff Responsible on the tax return differ from the staff assigned to that role on the client's Responsibility tab in MYOB AE.

  1. Click Start to generate the list. The tax returns with any data differences to the client data in MYOB AE are listed in the table on this screen.
  2. To export these details to Microsoft Excel, click

at the bottom of the list.

  3. To print these details, click

at the bottom of the list.

  4. Click Next to go to the next step of the wizard.

3. Addresses — differences between AE Tax and MYOB AE

This step displays the unlodged tax returns for the current and prior tax years where the front cover address differs from the address entered for the client in MYOB AE.

  1. Click Click here to run report to run the address differences report.

  2. Click Next to go to the next step of the wizard.

If there are no client groups in your database, Next is not available.

  3. Click Finish to complete the configuration wizard.

4. Split Client Groups

The Split Client Group Routine runs automatically.

The Split Client Group Routine must run to completion and, depending on the number of clients affected, it may take some time.

This step checks whether there are any client groups in AE Tax (i.e., where one client is created and many tax returns are attached to that client). For example, one client is created for the Lee family and tax returns are created for Mr Lee, Ms Lee, Lee Partners and the Lee Super fund.

Client groups are not supported with direct integration to MYOB AE. Each tax return must have a corresponding client in MYOB AE.

This split client group process creates new client codes for each member of a client group, using details from their individual tax returns (for example, name, address details, tax file number, etc.). New client codes use the AE Tax return code if that code has not already been used in MYOB AE. If that return code is already used in MYOB AE, a new client code is generated, based on the original client group code plus generated numerals to make the code unique.
