Error: "55/Memory file is invalid" when opening Tax modules or extracting GST returns from General Ledger

In Accountants Office (AO) Classic, when opening Tax modules or extracting GST returns from the general ledger you may experience the error "55/Memory file is invalid".

This error is caused by corruption in the E-File settings file, efile.ctl.

To eliminate this error delete the 3 CADATA files and refresh your E-File parameters.

Please ensure you have a backup of your AO Classic data prior to performing these steps. For more details refer to Backing up my AO Classic data.

To delete the files and refresh E-File parameters
  1. Close Accountants Office on all workstations, then open Windows Explorer or Computer and navigate to your AO Classic data folder. For example M:\MYOBAE\Data. The files and folders appear.

  2. Highlight the 3 files named CADATA  .DBC .DCT and .DCX right-click on one of the files and select Delete. A confirmation message appears.

  3. Click Yes. The files are deleted.

  4. Open the TAXMAN folder, then right-click on the efile.ctl and select Delete. A confirmation message appears.

  5. Click Yes. The file is deleted.

  6. Close Windows Explorer.

  7. Open MYOB AO Classic and open the E-File module.

  8. From the E-File menu select E-File Parameters.The E-File Setup wizard opens.

  9. Continue through the wizard and re-enter your E-File details. The E-File parameters are refreshed.
