The backup.txt file may state Backup completed successfully but a backup is not added to the list of Current online backups. In order to correctly set up your system for online backups using DataSafe, you need to perform the following:

  • Modify the shared folder security for the database directory to include the user Everyone with full control rights.
  • Modify the Sol64 folder security on the server to include the user Everyone with full control rights.
  • Modify the shared folder sharing permissions on the server to include the user Everyone with full rights.
  • Restart DataSafe.
To Identify the correct current database and program directory
  1.  In Contacts, from the Help menu, select About MYOB Contacts. The About MYOB AE Contacts window appears.
  2. Click Application details. The MYOB AE Contacts Application Details window appears.
  3. Note the Database Location eg. q:\Data\MYOB and Installed Location eg s:\myob, and click OK. The About MYOB AE Contacts window appears.

  4. Using Windows Explorer or My Computer, determine what the Q drive and S drive are mapped to eg, 'data' on 'server' (Q:), and 'apps' on 'server' (S:)

This means that the folders you have to update security for should be c:\<possible_subfolders>\data and c:\<possible_subfolders>\apps on the server called SERVER.
  5. Click Close. The Contacts window appears.

To modify folder security and permissions
  1. Using Windows Explorer or My Computer browse to the location of your data folder on the server. The contents of that folder displays.
  2. Right-click the Data folder eg. MYOB and select Properties. The MYOB Properties window appears.
  3. Click the Security tab and then click Add. The Select Users, Computers, or Groups window appears.

If the sharing tab does not appear in the folder properties, edit the View folder options, deselecting Use simple file sharing. Refer to the following website for details.

  4. Type Everyone in the Enter the object names to select field and click OK. The folder Properties window appears again with the user Everyone added to Group or user names.

If the Multiple Names Found window appears, select the options that contains only the word Everyone or the correct domain if specified.

  5. Highlight Everyone and select Allow for Full Control in the Permission for Everyone section. Allow is selected for all permissions except Special Permissions.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Repeat steps 2 to 6 for the share where the data resides.
  8. Repeat steps 2 to 6 for the SOL64 folder on the application server.
To modify sharing permissions
  1. Using Windows File Explorer, browse to the location of your Data folder.
  2. Right-click the Data folder and select Properties.
  3. Click the Sharing tab and then click Permissions.
  4. If Everyone is not available in Group or user names, click Add. The Select Users, Computers, or Groups window appears.
  5. Type Everyone in the Enter the object names to select field and click OK. The folder Properties window appears again with the user Everyone added to Group or user names.

If the Multiple Names Found window appears, select the options that contains only the word Everyone or the correct domain if specified.

  6. Highlight Everyone and select all the checkboxes in Permission for Everyone. All the permissions are selected.

  7. Click OK.

  8. Restart Datasafe and you should now be able to perform your online backups.
