In MAS Ledger, you may receive the error "Descriptor for this ledger already exists in this folder". This error is commonly caused by the Client already existing in that location.

If the client code already exists in your ledger listing and there is data in the ledger, you may need to choose another client code. If the ledger has had its data removed but still displays on the ledger list, you may need to perform an EPPURGE routine to check the location and existence of the ledger.

To perform an EPPURGE, you'll need to know where your S6CLIENT i.e. the folder where your MAS ledgers are stored, is located. If you're not sure of this location, open any MAS ledger and navigate to Help > About > Application details and note the Database location.

The EPPURGE routine should only be run under the supervision of MYOB support.

1. Rename your client's data folder
  1. Open Windows File Explorer and navigate to X:\S6CLIENT folder, where X: is the drive the S6CLIENT folder is located.

  2. Right-click on the folder for the client code you are attempting to open MAS for, then select Rename.

  3. Type old at the start of the folder name and then press ENTER.

The folder hosting your client's MAS ledger data is renamed to old<ClientCode>.

2. Perform an EPPRUGE

Ensure all users are logged out of System Release and System Release products before you begin. For more details on running the EPPURGE routine see Removing non-existent ledger list entries.

3. Rename your S6CLIENT folder to remove .OLD
  1. Open Windows File Explorer and navigate to X:\S6CLIENT folder, where X: is the drive the S6CLIENT folder is located.

  2. Right-click the renamed folder from Task 1 and select Rename. For example, oldABC123 where ABC123 is the Client Code.

  3. Remove "old" from the start of the folder name and then press ENTER.

  4. Start System Release and reload the MAS ledger.
