Error: "I/O error in TCF file" when opening a Tax return

This support note applies to:

  • AE Tax (AU)
Article ID: 32036

In MYOB Accountants Enterprise (AE), when opening Tax returns from a client's Tax tab or from the Tax homepage, you may experience the error "I/O error in TCF file".

This issue may occur in the following situations:

  • When AE cannot connect to the System Release application
  • When the Tax Program Path in the Tax Settings points to the incorrect location.

To correct this error, you'll need to update the Tax Program Path in the Tax Settings. Before you can do this, you'll need to know the location of System Release. If you are unsure of this location follow the steps in Finding the SOL64 or Tax directory to find out.

To update the Tax Program Path
  1. Open MYOB AE and follow the menu path Maintenance > Tax > Settings.
  2. From the TASKS bar, click Edit connection details, then select the Tax tab.
  3. In the Tax tab, enter the correct location of System Release in the Tax Program Path field. This field is case sensitive.

  4. Click Save, then Close and reopen AE for the changes to take affects.

You can then open Tax returns from within AE.
