Error: "Licence Check Failed: Last Known Position is 9. Error 800f0033 - non-licenced environment"

In Accountants Enterprise (AE) Assets, you may experience the error "Licence Check Failed: Last Known Position is 9. Error 800f0033 - non-licenced environment" when attempting to open an AE Assets ledger.

This error occurs where the windows registry cannot read the files in the MYOB AE Registration folder because the file path entered is either incorrect or the file is missing.

To resolve this issue, perform the following steps.

Making changes to the registry and can cause issues with your system if performed incorrectly. We recommend having someone proficient with the Windows Operating System performs these instructions. For more details regarding making changes to the registry, refer to Important information for making registry edits and file changes

To locate the MRego and lic.ini files
  1. Click the folder icon (
    ) on Windows Task bar to open File Explorer.
  2. Using File Explorer, navigate to the location of the Registration folder. This is commonly found in the following locations:

    • \\ServerName\MYOBAE\Registration
    • X:\MYOBAE\AESQL\Registration
    (Where ServerName is the machine name of the server or X:\ is the shared drive location where your MYOB software has been installed).
  3. Check that the following files exist in this location. You may also want to take note of the folder path as you'll need this for the next task.
    • lic.ini
    • MRego.dll
    • MRego64.dll
To update your registry settings
  1. From the desktop of the affected machine, right-click on the Windows Start menu (
    )and choose Run.
  2. In the Open field, type regedit then click OK. The Registry Editor opens.

  3. Using the Registry Editor, navigate to:

    32-bit operating systemHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MYOB\System
    64-bit operating systemHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\MYOB\System
  4. Check the AeRego path is pointing to the correct location of lic.ini. For example, X:\MYOBAE\AESQL\Registration\lic.ini

    1. If you need to edit the path, right-click on AeRego and choose Modify...

    2. In the Value data field, enter the correct folder location and click OK.

  5. After you've checked and if applicable, amended the AeRego path, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MYOB\System\dll

  6. Check the (Default) path is pointing to the correct MRego file:

    If you're using a...Value data should point to...
    32-bit operating systemMRego.DLL
    64-bit operating systemMRego64.DLL
  7. Change the folder path in the Value data field to point to the relevant MRego file for your operating system:

    1. If you need to edit the path, right-click on (Default) and choose Modify...

    2. In the Value data field, enter the correct location of your MRego.DLL or MRego.64.dll file. Then click OK.

The registry is updated. You may now close out of the registry and run MYOB AE Assets again.
