This support note applies to:

  • AE Tax Series 6 & 8 (AU)
  • AE Tax (AU)
Article ID: 27961

When opening MYOB Accountants Enterprise (AE) System Release, you may experience the error "The user profile could not be written. The workpath is either not accessible or may not be writeable".  If you continue with the existing workpath, the error "Cannot login without a valid workpath." occurs and you are then returned to the System Services login gateway.

When you change the workpath in the user's properties, you may also experience the error, "This location is read only". The errors then continue, preventing access to System Release for that user.

This error is due to a corruption in the DS6OP050 file. This file contains information relating to users':

  • Customized toolbars;
  • Navigation favourites; and
  • Window sizes.

To correct this error rename the DS6OP050.

The following information also pertains to the error "The nominated workpath is in use."

To rename the DS6OP050 file
  1. Open Windows Explorer or Computer and navigate to the \Sol64 folder. The contents of the drive appears.

    If you don't know where your (SOL64) System Release directory, refer Finding the SOL64 or Tax directory

  2. Right-click the DS6OP050 file and select Rename. The file name changes to edit mode.
  3. Rename the file to DS6OP050.old and press ENTER. The change to the file name is saved.
  4. Open System Release in the usual method and access is now possible.

As this file contains user settings you need to recreate customised toolbars and navigation favourites.
