Error: "This app can't run on your PC" when installing an MYOB certified application on Windows 8/Server 2012

When installing MYOB certified applications on a Windows 8 workstation or a server running Server 2012, if you experience the error "This app can't run on your PC" this indicates that there is a corruption in the installer.
To update the installer, refer to the my.MYOB Product Downloads page, Australia or New Zealand to download the required installation file again.
If your environment is not compatible then you may experience this error.
Ensure your application is compatible as per Compatibility of MYOB AE and AO applications with Server 2012, SQL 2012 and Windows 8
MYOB INTERNAL STAFF ONLY
This error is similar to "This is not a valid Win32 application" in Windows 7/Server 2008 R2 and prior.
