In MYOB Accountants Enterprise (AE) version 2017.0, you may experience the error "You do not have the necessary permissions to use the 'X:\MYOB\proto\pacer32.mdb' object" when opening Contacts, Client Compliance or Datasafe.

This issue occurs where Microsoft Access 2010 Runtime is missing or has failed to install correctly on the workstation or server.

To resolve this issue uninstall and re-install MYOB AE workstation to ensure all components have been correctly installed. If this does not resolve the issue you may need to uninstall Microsoft Access Runtime 2010, update the installation location in %TEMP%\MYOBAccessRT\Config.xml, then reinstall Microsoft Access Runtime and perform an MYOB AE workstation setup.

For information on uninstalling and reinstalling Microsoft Access Runtime 2010 please consult your IT professional.
To perform a workstation setup

For information on how to run an MYOB AE workstation setup refer to Running a Contacts or Client Compliance workstation setup

To edit the Install Path in Config.xml
MYOB recommends the following steps be performed by an IT professional.
  1. Uninstall Microsoft Access Runtime 2010 via Control Panel. Microsoft Access Runtime 2010 is disappears from the list of installed Programs and Features.

    There cannot be a 64-bit version of any Office 2010 product on the server or workstation experiencing this issue.This is because the 32 and 64-bit of the same Office version cannot co exist. Any 64-bit version of Office 2010 is installed on the server or affected workstation will need to be removed prior to reinstalling Access RT 2010.
  2. Open File Explorer and navigate to the %TEMP%\MYOBAccessRT folder. The contents of the MYOBAccessRT folder appears.
  3. Right click the config.xml file and select Open With > Notepad. The config.xml file contents appear in Notepad.
  4. Enter the Access10RT install location in the config.xml file follows:
    <INSTALLLOCATION Value="C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Access10RT" />
    For example:
    <Configuration Product="AccessRT">
               <Display Level="basic" CompletionNotice="no" SuppressModal="yes" AcceptEula="yes" />
               <INSTALLLOCATION Value="C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Access10RT" />
           <!-- <Logging Type="standard" Path="C:\Temp\" Template="Microsoft_Access_2010_Runtime_Setup(*).log" />
           <COMPANYNAME Value="Company Name" />  -->
           <Setting Id="SETUP_REBOOT" Value="Suppress" />
    </Configuration>
    The Microsoft Access RT 2010 installation location displays in the config.xml file.

    The install path must exist prior to running the setup in that same folder.
  5. Perform a workstation setup as per Running a Contacts or Client Compliance workstation setup

    If this does not resolve the issue run the 32-bit setup located in the Setup\AccessRT folder to create the Access install in the Temp folder first. This folder will be automatically removed after the install.
