Renaming the .nrw file

This support note applies to:

In MYOB Accountants Enterprise Reporter, you may be required by a Knowledge Base article or by MYOB Support to rename the .nrw file.

During the renaming the .nrw file, this deletes all data entered in as Non-Transaction data for that ledger. Therefore need to re-enter your Non Transaction Data after renaming the .nrw file.

How to rename the .nrw file

Choose the product to view the steps for renaming the .nrw file.

MYOB AE MAS
  1. Follow the menu path: Start > Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer. Windows Explorer starts.

  2. Navigate to X:\S6CLIENT\<CLIENTCODE> folder, where X:\ is your network folder and <CLIENTCODE> is the client code appearing in the error message. A list of files within the <CLIENTCODE> folder appears.

  3. Right-click the <CLIENTCODE>.nrw file. A menu option appears.

  4. Select Rename. The <CLIENTCODE>.nrw file is highlighted and able to be edited.

  5. Add .old to the existing file name <CLIENTCODE>.nrw and press Enter. The file <CLIENTCODE>.nrw.old is saved.

  6. Close Windows Explorer. The Windows Desktop appears.

MYOB AE Accounts
Ensure all applications are closed for that client.
  1. Highlight the client from within Contacts and then from the Tools menu select Client File Maintenance. The Client File Maintenance screen appears, with the cursor in the File Group field.

  2. Type ACT and press Enter. Details on the ACT file appear, with the cursor in the Selection field.

  3. Type V and press Enter. The file verifies displaying location and unique file name. Make a note of this location and unique file name.

  4. Follow the menu path: Start > Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer. Windows Explorer starts.

  5. Navigate to the location noted in step 3 and right-click <unique number>.nrw. The <unique number>.nrw file is highlighted and able to be edited.

  6. Select Rename. The <unique number>.nrw file is highlighted and able to be edited.

  7. Add .old to the existing file name <unique number>.nrw and press Enter. The file <unique number>.nrw.old is saved.

  8. Close Windows Explorer. The Windows Desktop appears.
