ELS Reports

The ATO shutdown ELS on 31 March 2019. You can't lodge returns or request reports using ELS. You can, however, view your old ELS reports for 2018 and prior income tax years.

ELS Reports are now Read Only reports kept for historic reference purposes only. DON'T select the Update Option when viewing them.

If you mistakenly choose to update from these old reports you can unknowingly cause updating of due dates and other information received after 31st March, 2019 with the old now incorrect details.

ELS Validation reports

When a Validation Report is selected you can choose to Preview, Print or Print to disk file.

You can choose to to delete these ELS VALID_XXX.nnn reports. Otherwise they remain in the ELS Reports index until they're deleted.

ELS Transmission reports

When a Transmission Report is selected you can choose to Preview, Print or Print to disk file.

You can choose to to delete these ELS TRANS_XXX.nnn files. Otherwise they remain in the ELS Reports index until they're deleted.

Client list report (RPTCL) and Due Lodgment Report (RPTDL)

The Client List and Due Lodgment Reports provided you with an automated process for reading the report and updating your data base with the information.

This comparison showed inconsistencies and/or allowed the Tax Agent to update their database and then advise the ATO via a Client Update form details of which clients were new and which you no longer acted for.

All reports cab be printed and deleted.

Report Options for RPTCL:

  • ATO Report: Select this option to display the ATO report that was flagged in the ELS Reports index.

  • List Exception Report: Select this option to display the Exception Report screen, which provides further options for comparing and analysing the data in the flagged ATO report. This would normally be printed before updating Tax with data received from the ATO. The exceptions reported include:

    • Return not found in ledger

    • different form type, level, financial year, name, Company or Fund classification, address, final due date and different lodgment status.

  • List Returns not in ATO list: Select this option to list all returns that are in your ledger but are not on the ATO List.

  • Exception report - TFN only: Select this option to display returns that are on the Client List but are not in your current Tax ledger matching by Tax File Number. The exceptions are reported as ‘Return not found in ledger’.

Update options for RPTCL:

DO NOT select any Update Options when viewing ELS reports. Use the these ELS Reports for historical, read-only purposes.

All information displayed on the client list is based on details as at the run date shown. Choosing to update data with the data in ELS reports could result in current-year return data, such as due dates, status levels and classifications updating incorrectly.

  • Level; Classification: Updates ATO level, Company and Super Fund classification.

  • Date Due: Updates Due date of return.

  • Lodged: Updates lodgment status of return. As a precaution, the lodgment status of returns which have had their lodgment status modified after the date the Client Report was prepared, will not be updated.

  •  Financial year: Updates Accounting year of return.

The updated fields are found in the Lodgment Details of the return, except for the lodgment status which is displayed on the Return index.
