Adding header and detail accounts
This functionality applies to all products except for AE/AO Ledger.
How to add a header account
- Open the workpapers period. See Opening an existing period. The Prepare Trial Balance (Workpapers) table is displayed.
- Click Add account on the Tasks bar. The Add Account window opens.
- Select the Header option.
- Select the classification for the account from the Account Type drop-down.
- The Account Classification and Account Number prefix fields automatically update to reflect the correct classification for the selected account.
- Enter the account number into the Account Number field. The account number must be unique.
- Enter the Account Name. The Account Name field is limited to a maximum of 30 alphanumeric characters.
- Click OK. The header account is displayed in the table in bold italics in the appropriate place in the chart of accounts.
How to add a detail account
- Open the workpapers period. See Opening an existing period. The Prepare Trial Balance (Workpapers) table is displayed.
- Click Add account on the Tasks bar. The Add Account window opens.
- Select the Detail option.
- Select the classification for the account from the Account Type drop-down. The Account Classification and Account Number prefix fields automatically update to reflect the correct classification for the selected account.
- Enter the Account Number. The account number must be unique.
- Enter the Account Name. The Account Name field is limited to a maximum of 30 alphanumeric characters.
- Click OK. The detail account is displayed in the table in italics in the appropriate place in the chart of accounts.
