Update 9 January 2026
This issue is fixed in Tax 2025.1 SP1 KB871497729 hotfix (Australia) release.
If you’ve installed 2025 Service Pack 1 (5.4.56/2025.1 SP1), when you lodge individual tax returns, in some cases they may be rejected with validation error CMN.ATO.IITR.730412.
This happens in individual tax returns if:
-
there is a Distribution received from Trust (dit) worksheet (Appendix 1) and
-
any balances reported in:
-
PP Income or
-
Non-PP income less capital gains, foreign income, MIS - Label U (Appendix 2).
-
This issue is fixed in Tax 2025.1 SP1 KB871497729 hotfix (Australia) release.
Workaround
If the return needs to be lodged urgently
-
Move the tax return from AE/AO to Tax in MYOB Practice Compliance.
-
Print a copy of the return to refer to when preparing the return in Tax.
-
Delete the returns in AE or delete the returns in AO to avoid the returns being accidentally lodged twice.
-
Lodge the return using Tax in MYOB Practice Compliance.
If the return doesn’t need to be lodged urgently
-
Wait until we release a hotfix for this issue in mid-January before lodging the return again.
-
Once you’ve installed the hotfix, move the returns to an in-progress status in AE/AO, complete the returns and then lodge them. You don’t need to make changes to the return.
-
If the returns are rejected, lodge them again to ensure the data is refreshed.
-
If the return is still rejected for the same error, contact us.
