This support note applies to:

  • AE Assets (AU)
  • AE Accounts (AU)
Article ID: 23782

In MYOB Accountants Enterprise (AE) Accounts you may experience the error "Could not find file Data\MYOB\xxxxxx.ast" when opening an AE Assets ledger from an Accounts ledger.

This error can occur when an the Assets data file has been manually deleted or the data is corrupted.

In order to resolve this issue delete the remnants of the original Assets ledger, then recreate a new Assets ledger.

This process is not designed for AE Assets ledgers that have been converted from Assets (Old) in a prior year. If this is the case, restore the Accounts and Assets data from a reliable backup. Before you do this, ensure you have a backup of the Accounts and Assets ledger.
To delete and recreate the assets ledger
  1. Back up the Accounts ledger from Client File Maintenance. For step-by-step instructions refer to Backing up ledgers and creating work files in AE Accounts
  2. Delete the assets register by running the -deleteAST command in Deleting an Assets Ledger in Accounts
  3. Once the ledger has been deleted, from within the Accounts ledger, create a new Assets ledger for your client using Creating an AE Assets Ledger.
