Transferring the parameter table and layouts to SQL (AE Tax Series 6/8)

In MYOB Accountants Enterprise Tax (AE Tax Series 6/8) if you experience some of the following scenario's when opening a tax return you will need to transfer the parameter tables and layouts to SQL. These include:

  • A blank screen appears;

  • A blank screen appears with no labels for a specific tax year or

  • Parts of the layout of the tax return are missing.

Transferring the parameter table and layouts to SQL is a routine that should only be run under the supervision or advice of MYOB Support.  Do not attempt this process unless you have been directed to do so.
How to transfer the parameter tables
Ensure you take a backup of Accountants Enterprise (AE) Tax prior to performing these steps. For more details, refer to Performing a Datasafe backup
  1. Open any current year AE Tax return and from the Help menu, select About. The About Tax window appears.

  2. Click Application details. The Tax Application Details window appears.

  3. Make a note of the Database location, for example, S6:\\SERVER\MSSQL\AETAX1, where: SERVER is the name of the server to where AE Tax has been installed.

  4. Close AE Tax and Contacts. The Windows Desktop appears.

  5. Right-click the Start button and select Explore. Windows Explorer starts.

  6. Navigate to and open your SOL64 folder. For example, S:\SOL64. The contents of the folder appear.

    If you need to determine the location of your SOL64 folder, refer to Finding the SOL64 or Tax directory
  7. Double-click the sr.exe file. The Login Gateway window appears.

  8. Type SUPERVIS in the User code field and S6 in the Password field and then click OK. The Folders window appears.

    If the Folders window does not appear, click the Administration link on the Navigation Bar; then the Folders link.
  9. Highlight the folder Location that matches the Database location noted at step 4. For example, S6:\\SERVER\MSSQL\AETAX1 and press ENTER. A list of ledgers appears.
  10. Right-click the affected tax year's ledger, and select Properties. The Item properties window appears.
  11. Click the Options tab. The details of this tab appear.
  12. In the Command field type /s and then click OK. The list of ledgers appears.
  13. Highlight the affected tax year's ledger and press ENTER. The message "These routines should only be run under the supervision of support" appears.
  14. Click OK. A menu appears.
  15. Click 5. Other Utilities. Another menu appears.
  16. Click 4. Transport files. Another menu appears.
  17. Click 2. Transport layouts to SQL. The message "Warning All users must be out of Tax. Ensure that you have a reliable backup before performing this procedure." appears.
  18. Click OK. The Transporting files window appears. Once the procedure is completed, a menu appears.
  19. Click 5. Other Utilities. Another menu appears.
  20. Click 4. Transport files. Another shortcut menu appears.
  21. Click 3. Transport Parameter table to SQL. The message "Warning All users must be out of Tax. Ensure that you have a reliable backup before performing this procedure." appears.
  22. Click OK. Once the procedure is completed, a run-time menu appears.
  23. Press ESC. The list of ledgers appears.
  24. Right-click the affected tax year's ledger, for example, AE Tax 2011, and select Properties. The Item properties window appears.
  25. Click the Options tab. The details of this tab appear.
  26. Delete the /s in the Command field and then click OK. The list of ledgers appears.
  27. From the File menu, select Exit. The Windows Desktop appears and the parameter table and layouts have been transferred to SQL.
