To open the Find Tax Clients page, click the Tax button on the toolbar.
You can customise the information displayed on the Find Tax Clients page. The customised layout you define is saved automatically and used whenever you open the Find Tax Clients page. You can change the layout at any time and the new customised layout becomes the default. For more information see Organising your data.
Searching, sorting and filtering your list of tax clients
To help you find the tax client you are looking for, there are a number of functions you can use.
Click on the Tax Year year to open a drop-down list of available tax years.
Select the appropriate year from the list. The list of tax clients refreshes to show tax clients for the selected year.
Enter the text you are searching for in the Search for field. You can search by Client Code, Return Name or IRD Number. When entering text in this field:
A partial Client Code, Return Name or IRD Number may be entered.
The search text is not case sensitive.
- The IRD Number must be entered without dashes or spaces.
As you start to type in the Search for field, a list of suggested tax clients (based on Return Names) is displayed. You can select from this list by clicking on the entry in the list.
Select your search options:
To match the entered string to any part of the client code or return name, select the Search any part of name and code checkbox. For example, ‘mit’ in Smith. If this option is not selected, search results will show only those names with the search criteria at the beginning of their names.
To include closed tax clients in your search results, select the Include closed clients checkbox.
Click Search. The tax clients that match your search criteria are listed.
Clear the text from the Search for field.
Click Search. All tax clients for the selected tax year are listed.
Click a column heading to sort the list by that column in ascending order.
Click the column heading again to sort the list by that column in descending order.
[Ctrl + click] on the column heading to remove the sort from that column.
The sort order you select will be remembered and applied when you open the Find Tax Clients page in the future.
On the Filter bar, click on a column.Identify the Filter bar by the filter icon in the leftmost column.
Use the drop-down list to select from the list of values in the column.
The list will now only show entries that match the value selected in the filter.
You can use wildcards when entering filters:
To find all entries in the column beginning with D, enter d in the filter.
To find all entries in the column containing the characters FAMILY, enter *family* in the filter.
To find all entries ending in D, enter *d in the filter.
To remove the filter, click the remove filter icon
Accessing other information for your tax clients
To help you access other tax related information for your tax clients, the following shortcuts and tasks are included on the Find Tax Clients page.
Do one of the following:
Double-click the row containing the required client.
Click the IRD Number for the required client.
Select the required client and, on the TASKS bar, click Tax Manager.
Click the Return Name for the required client.
Select the required client and, on the TASKS bar, click Return preparation.
Click the Client Code for the required client. The Client page > Tax tab appears for the selected client.
Exporting and printing your list of tax clients
You can print or export the displayed list of tax clients to use in Excel.
On the TASKS bar, click the print icon . A Print - Find Results window appears where you can preview and print the search results.
On the TASKS bar, click the export icon . The list of tax clients is exported to Excel and the spreadsheet opens.
