Editing fonts, alignment and column width

This procedure explains how to define fonts, text alignment and column width in a basic report.

If you use this method to make a number of different layouts, remember to save each with a unique name and a description.

To edit fonts, alignment and column width in a report
  1. Open a report. See Opening basic format reports for editing and reformatting.

  2. Click Edit. The report opens in the Change Report page.

  3. Click the Report fields and formatting tab. The Change Report Fields message is displayed.

  4. Click No if you have already customised this report using Report Designer and need to keep those changes. You must continue to use Report Designer to make changes or all formatting will be lost.

    Click Yes to continue.

The available fields for this report type are listed, ready for selection and formatting.

  5. Click the Show selected report fields and formatting checkbox. All settings for the selected field are displayed.

  6. To change a font family, size or weight (for example, to change the Client Code Header font from Arial 8pt Bold to Times New Roman 10pt Italic):

    1. Locate the Field Name (for example, Client Code).

    2. On the same line, click inside the Column Header Font column (for example, Arial 8pt Bold) to display the ellipse button.

    3. Click the ellipse button to open the Font window.

    4. Select the Font, Font style and Size required.

    5. Click OK when finished.

    6. Repeat for each field, if necessary.

  7. To change the alignment for a field (for example, to change the alignment of Gross amounts from Left to Right):

    1. Locate the Field Name (for example, Gross).

    2. On the same line, click in the Column Alignment column to display the drop-down arrow.

    3. Select the new alignment from the drop-down (for example, Right).

    4. Repeat for other fields, if necessary.

  8. To change a column width:

    1. Locate the Field Name (for example, Client Code).

    2. On the same line, click in the Column Width column.

    3. Enter the required width, in characters.

    4. Adjust the width of other fields, if necessary.

  9. Click OK to open the Save report layout window.

  10. Select either the Save as new report or Overwrite existing report option.

  11. If necessary, type a different name and a description for this report to differentiate it from the original.

  12. Click OK when finished.
