Installing and Uninstalling Accountants Enterprise (AE) on a workstation

This support note applies to:

  • AE Practice Manager (NZ)
  • AE Practice Manager (AU)
  • AE Tax Series 6 & 8 (AU)

In MYOB Accountants Enterprise Practice Manager (AE PM) you may need to perform a workstation installation to resolve an error message.

Before you begin

  • Ensure you are logged onto the workstation as an administrator.
  • Close all Microsoft (MS) Office applications
  • Disable User Account Control (UAC) settings. Refer to Disabling User Account Control (UAC). If you change this setting, reboot the workstation prior to continuing.
  • Enable Linked Connections. Refer to Enabling Linked Connections in Windows. If you change this setting, reboot the workstation prior to continuing.
  • Disable any anti-virus programs temporarily that may be operating on the workstation.

Choose your environment

File Server Network

To install:

  1. Open Windows File Explorer and navigate to \\<servername>\CentralClient\
    where <servername> is the name of your server.

  2. Double click on the Setup.exe file and complete the workstation installation wizard.
    The workstation installation is complete.

If you cannot find this setup file, you may be using the combined installer for MYOB AE. If this is the case, refer to Running a combined workstation installation or uninstallation for Accountants Enterprise.

To uninstall

  1. Log onto the workstation as a Local Admin user and from the Desktop, click the Windows Start menu.
  2. In the search field, type Control Panel and press Enter.
  3. From within the Control Panel, click Programs and Features.
  4. Right-click MYOB Accountants Enterprise Client and choose Uninstall.
Terminal Server

To install:

  1. Follow the menu path Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features. The list of programs installed appears.
  2. Click the Add New Programs icon, and click on the CD or Floppy button.
  3. Browse to \\<servername>\CentralClient\
    where <servername> is the name of your server.

  4. Double click on the Setup.exe file and complete the workstation installation wizard.
If you cannot find this setup file, you may be using the combined installer for MYOB AE. If this is the case, refer to Running a combined workstation installation or uninstallation for Accountants Enterprise.

To uninstall:

  1. Log onto the terminal server as a Domain Administrator. click the Windows Start menu and search Control Panel.
  2. In the search field, type Control Panel and press Enter.
  3. From within the Control Panel, click Programs and Features.
  4. Right-click MYOB Accountants Enterprise Client and choose Uninstall.
