Reinstalling AE Reporter

If you have previously had MYOB Accountants Enterprise (AE) Reporter installed and need to re-install the application, there are a number of steps you need to follow.  These steps include backing up and restoring files containing the Master components and also any Practice components.

MYOB has released Reporter 3.5 Full install which you can download it from my.myob.com.au website. Refer to Identifying and updating to the latest version of Reporter if you already have Reporter installed.

Please consult with your IT person or call Support if you are not sure.

The locations of these files are different depending on the underlying MYOB application; for example Accountants Enterprise (AE) or Accountants Office (AO).

Below are the steps on how to reinstall Reporter.

If installing first time on new computer/server please follow from Step 5.

  1. Identify the locations of Reporter key files if exists
  2. Backup Master file m.nrw to the desktop if exists.
  3. Backup Practice file 000000.nrm/mm.nrw to the desktop if exist.
  4. Remove any Reporter Integration applications.
  5. Install AE Reporter 3.5 Full Install and run the Reporter integration setup.
  6. If you have installed 3.5 version please remove MYOBAEReporterWorkstation3_4_AU.exe from the Reporter Integration folder if exists.
  7. Download and install the further updates for Reporter if any.
  8. Open the Reporter application and check the version.
  9. Run the Reporter integration setup on each workstation.

1. To identify the file locations

The files in this process are shown below

AccountsFiles located in
Master File - m.rnw

<myob\bin\Reporter\Master\>

Practice File- 000000.nrm 

<Database location> Eg M:\Data\MYOB where M:\ is the database location of your software.

MAS & MYOB AO 
Master File- m.nrw 

<\TAX\Reporter\Master\> or <\SOL64\Reporter\Master>

Practice File- mm.nrw <\TAX\Reporter\Modified\> or <SOL64\Reporter\Modified>
2. To backup the Master file
  1. Open Windows Explorer or Computer and navigate to the relevant <Master location>. The files and folders contained appear.
  2. Right-click on the m.nrw file and select Copy. The file is copied to the clipboard.
  3. Right-click on the Windows Desktop and select Paste. A copy of the file is pasted to the Desktop.
3. To backup 000000.nrm/mm.nrw file
  1. Open Windows Explorer or Computer and navigate to the relevant location. The files and folders contained appear.
  2. Right-click on the 000000.nrm or mm.nrw and select Copy. The file is copied to the clipboard.
  3. Right-click on the Windows Desktop and select Paste. A copy of the file is pasted to the Desktop.
4. Remove any Reporter Integration applications
5. To install MYOB AE Reporter 3.5 and run Reporter Integration Setup

To run MYOB AE Reporter 3.5 Workstation, refer to KB 33734: Running a workstation setup for AE Reporter(AU) 

You need to perform the Reporter Integration setup, also referred to as Reporter Integration Setup on the server as well as on each workstation.

6. To replace the Practice file if needed
  1. Right-click on the Practice file on the Windows Desktop and select Copy. The file is copied to the clipboard.
  2. Open Windows Explorer or Computer and navigate to the relevant location. The files and folders contained appear.
  3. Right-click in the folder location and select Paste. The Practice Masters file is restored.

    This restores any customisations previously saved at Practice Level.
