Client Report

Accountants Enterprise only

This enables you to preview or print a simple report of client details. The default layout CLIREP will print a report listing the code, group and full name of the contacts selected. You may wish to edit this report or to create your own by selecting Maintenance > CDS Practice letters.

You can set the default layout code for this report by selecting Utilities > Control Record.

Use layout: The Use layout field allows you to nominate the layout you wish to use for the report. Click [F10] or the ellipse to display the Select Letter window which lists all the master and practice letters available in Central Database. Unless you have created your own layout for this report, you should accept the default option.

Include Headings: Select the Include headings checkbox so that your client report will include a heading that consists of the Central Database ledger description, the page number, and the text typed into the Title field below. Otherwsie, no headings will print at the top of the report. This may be useful if you wish to export your client report as an ASCII text file and import it to a third-party application.

Title: At this sixty character alphanumeric field, key in the title you wish to use for the client report you are printing. The text you key in here will print at the top of your client report.


The report may be printed by:

  • a User defined sequence,

  • a System defined sequence, or

  • by a Batch sequence

Filter: At this one hundred and fifty alphanumeric character field, you may establish a condition so that the report will print only a specific set of contacts. For example, if you enter the condition D169 EQ 'Doctor', then letters will print only for those contacts that have the field D169 - title equal to 'Doctor'.

Variables: Click Variables to open the Letter Writing Variable Definitions window. The purpose is to allow you to make temporary changes to letter writing definitions. If required, click Save to File on the Letter Writing Definitions window to save temporary changes as masters.


Once you complete data entry in the current window:

  • If you selected User Defined Sequence, the next window that displays is the Creating Sort Sequences window.

  • If you selected System Sequence Options, the next window that displays is the Output Device window. Select an output device (screen, printer or disk file) to continue. You are then prompted to select the sequence and range of contacts to be included in the listing.

  • If you selected Batch Sequence, the next window that displays is the Print Detailed Listing window. Select from a list of the contacts in your database.
