Using the automatic timer

Accountants Enterprise with Practice Manager only

You can use the automatic timer

on the Timesheet Time Entry window to record time spent on a task.

To use the automatic timer
  1. Select Calendar Entry or Daily Entry mode in the Timesheet User Settings window. See Changing timesheet data entry modes and Timesheet User Settings/System Settings.

  2. Create or open a timesheet. See Creating new timesheets or Opening existing timesheets, as appropriate.

  3. Open the Timesheet Time Entry window.

  4. For Daily entry mode, click the Add button.

  5. For Calendar entry mode, right-click on the timesheet and select Create Timesheet Entry from the menu

  6. Select the Client from the drop-down.

  7. Select the Assignment from the drop-down.

  8. If appropriate, select a Job/Schedule from the drop-down.

If a selected assignment has a schedule/stage of tasks attached, you will be able to select one from a drop-down.
If the selected assignment does not have an attached schedule/stage of tasks, then this field is greyed out and not available.

  9. Select the Task from the drop-down.

  10. Click the timer entry start button

to start the timer clock. The Timesheet Time Entry window can be minimised while you are completing your task.

  11. Click the timer entry stop button

to stop the timer. When you have completed your task maximised the Timesheet Time Entry window.

  12. Enter any Comments about the task just completed.

  13. Click Apply. The task is added to your timesheet.

  14. Click OK. The Timesheet Time Entry window closes.

You can have more than one Timesheet Time Entry window open with different clients and assignments in each window.
All entries are dated with the Time Processing Period end date – rather than being dated daily. It means that the timesheet will be displayed with the Time Processing Period end date when they are listed under the employee’s name in the Timesheet. For example, if the employee’s time processing category is set to weekly, all timesheets are dated with the week end date. This does not apply to timesheets viewed in the Calendar mode.
