Editing transactions for a client

You can edit transactions to the client’s tax ledger on the Tax Manager Transactions view or Reconciliation view. The following restrictions apply when editing transactions:

  • You cannot edit:

    • reconciled transactions

    • notice printed transactions

    • draft return transactions.

  • When editing a transfer, the reciprocal entries are updated.

  • You cannot change the payment Type of a transaction.

To edit a transaction
  1. Open Tax Manager Transactions view or Reconciliation view for the relevant client. See Viewing a client's tax ledger transactions or Viewing the reconciliation of transactions for a client.
  2. If you want to edit transactions for a different year, click on the year to open a drop-down list and select the required year.

  3. Select the Tax Type for the transaction you want to edit.

  4. Click on the transaction you want to edit.

    When you click on a transaction, it becomes highlighted by a blue background and a triangle appears in the far left blue column. This means that the transaction has been selected for action.

  5. On the TASKS bar, go to Transactions > Edit item. The Edit Item window appears showing the details of the selected transaction.

  6. Change the required information.

    If you are editing a Transfer, changes to the fields in the Transfer Details area only update the information used in the transaction Description. When you click OK, you will be prompted to manually update the reciprocal transaction.

  7. Click OK to save your changes and close the window. The edited transaction is displayed.
