For Practice Manager clients

Accountants Enterprise only

For integration to work correctly, you must complete the following five tabs. Select Maintenance > AE Tax > Settings to open the window.

Database tab

Enter the details of the:

  • Tax database name

  • SQL server name

  • login details that you will use when accessing the data.

Click Test to confirm that the details have been entered successfully.

System Services tab

Enter the:

  • location of the SOL64 directory

  • name of the Tax ledger (the ledger code).

Security tab

Select the method to be used to log in to System Services:

  • Select the Windows User option to log users in using their network login names.

  • Select the Employee Code option to log users in using their Employee code from Practice Manager. If you select this option, ensure that each Employee user code in Practice Manager matches a user code in System Services.

Update Tax Connection tab

This tab is used to update the connection between the MYOB database you selected (see database) and the AE Tax database you selected (see database and sstab).

Review the settings displayed and, if necessary, refine the settings on the earlier tabs.

When satisfied, click Update Tax Database to set the connection.

Tax Data Mapping tab

This tab is used to:

  • Map the Address Types to be used on tax return Front Covers.
For each tax front cover address usage (Postal Address, Home Address and Business Address), select the corresponding Address Type in MYOB AE from the drop-down list of Address Types.

  • Map the Responsibilities to be used on the Staff tab of the tax return Properties.
For each staff role available in AE Tax (Partner, Manager and Employee), select the corresponding Responsibility Type in MYOB AE from the drop-down list of Responsibility Types.
The Partner for the tax return can be mapped to the Partner Responsibility of the client or to one of the Team Responsibilities. For example, you may have created a Responsibility Type of Tax Partner.

  • Compare data in AE Tax.
Click Compare Data in AE Tax to open the AE Tax data comparison to MYOB AE Client window.
This window shows any unlodged tax returns in the current year, where the values of the data items now shared with MYOB AE are different.

To compare data in AE Tax
  1. Select the checkbox for the data types that you want to compare. The options are:

    • Addresses

    • Key Client Attributes

    • Staff Responsible.

  2. Click Start to run the data comparison. The tax returns with any data differences to the client data in MYOB AE are listed in the table on this screen.

  3. Export these details to Microsoft Excel by clicking  at the bottom of the list.

  4. Print the list by clicking  at the bottom of the list.

To resolve AE Tax/MYOB AE data differences
  • Addresses

When the tax return is opened, a messages window shows the address currently in the tax return and the address currently recorded against the client in MYOB AE. Select either of these addresses as the client’s correct address. The system updates both areas with the selected address.

  • Key Client Attributes

When the tax return is opened, the data values in AE Tax are overwritten with the client’s data values from MYOB AE.
If there are few clients in MYOB AE with incorrect data, manually correct the data in MYOB AE.
If there are many clients in MYOB AE with incorrect data (for example, a TFN or DOB is not present for most clients in MYOB), run the Key Attributes Mapping wizard to update the data values in MYOB AE.

  • Staff Responsibility

When the tax return is opened, the data values in AE Tax are overwritten with the client’s data values from MYOB AE. If the values in MYOB AE are incorrect, correct them manually.
