A milestone is an scheduled event signifying the completion of a major deliverable or a set of related deliverables. It can have a date applied to indicate when it should be reached or completed. For full details, see Milestones (for Assignments).
The following applies only to practices which have elected to use both Jobs and Schedules.
Milestones can be created for both Jobs and Schedules.
To link milestones to schedules you need to link the milestones to the schedule template. The milestones are then linked to the Job Manager — Job Sheet every time an assignment with the schedule template is created.
Alternatively, you can edit existing schedules using the Assignment Details page > Schedules tab and assign milestones to stages.
Milestones are created and tagged to a schedule or job to indicate whether certain targets have been reached.
Milestones and Schedules
When creating milestones remember that the milestones can be used for jobs or schedules.
A schedule will be added to an assignment if the assignment template used has a schedule template attached.
If no schedule template is associated with an assignment template, a job will be created and added to the assignment — unless the Job Mode is set to Assignments and Schedules, in which case jobs will never be added to an assignment. See Milestones (for Assignments) for more details.
When you add a new job to an assignment, the job is displayed automatically in the Job Manager — Job Sheet. You can then do milestone maintenance for that job using the Job Manager — Job Sheet.
Linking milestones to the schedules stages
Link the schedule stages to milestones when creating the schedule template.
The milestones will be available for manipulation in the Job Manager — Job Sheet when you add a new assignment using an assignment template and a schedule template is attached to that assignment template.

When linking schedule stages to milestones
You cannot link a milestone to more than one schedule stage.
You do not need to link all milestones to schedule stages. You need only link those schedule stages to milestones that you want to track using the Job Sheet homepage.
If no milestones are linked to schedule stages, the schedule will not be displayed on the Job Manager — Job Sheet. Only schedules with linked milestones are displayed on the Job Manager — Job Sheet.
