Installing MYOB applications on your new server
The MYOB Server Migration Service
The MYOB Server Migration Service takes the hassle out of installing MYOB applications on your new server.
Whilst your IT experts can successfully install and upgrade your new server, they are not always experts in the MYOB AE and AO applications. Incorrectly installing the tools that are critical to your business – such as Tax, Client Accounting, Practice Management and Document Management – can cost your business both time and money. By having an MYOB expert install these critical applications, you can rest assured it will be done correctly, the first time.
The benefits
A fast and cost-efficient migration of AE/AO
Peace of mind in knowing that you have a team of MYOB experts looking after you
A period of User Acceptance where you have direct access to the MYOB Technical Services Team.
The process
To assist with your server migration, a member of the MYOB Operations team will contact you to organise a convenient date for your pre-migration conference call and server migration.
Pre-migration conference call
A week before migrating, an MYOB Technical Analyst will host a conference call with you to run through the important checkpoints before your scheduled migration. This call will mean you are prepared for the migration and downtime will be kept to a minimum. One of the items you’ll discuss is the requirement to copy data to your new server before the migration.
Migration
On the agreed day, a MYOB Technical Analyst will connect to your site remotely to perform the migration of AE/AO. The analyst will need exclusive access to your server at this time.
During this time, you will not be able to access AE/AO.
The analyst will perform the following tasks:
Installation and basic configuration of SQL Express. If your practice is using the full version of SQL, it's your responsibility to have this installed and configured.
Installation of the AE/AO versions you currently use.
Configuration of AE/AO databases and integration utilities.
Post-install testing to ensure your key AE/AO workflows are functioning correctly. Given the extensive functionality within AE/AO, we’ve identified a range of tests to run on both server and workstation.
Workstation installation will be performed on a single workstation or terminal server. To test the lodgement connection, ensure this workstation is the one used for lodgements. The analyst will demonstrate how to perform the workstation install so you can complete this task on the rest of the PCs in your practice.
User acceptance
For five working days after your migration your team is given direct access to the MYOB Technical Services Team. If during this time you encounter issues with AE/AO, you can contact the MYOB Technical Services Team for a quick resolution of your issues.
Total time and investment
Server migrations are fixed fee services sold in half-day increments. This is based on your practice’s unique product and network configuration. This timing is an estimate and your migration may take more or less time than anticipated, but under the fixed fee approach, you’ll always know what our fee is.
What migration service do you need?
The different types of migration services offered by MYOB are based on the specific needs and profiles of your business:
Product Profile: The type of migration service is selected based on your product profile, which includes the use of Tax, Practice Management (PM), and Document Management (DM) systems. This ensures that the migration experience is tailored to your specific requirements.
Scope of Migration: Each migration service type has a defined scope, which includes the duration and components of the migration process. For example:
MYOB Server Migration Lite: Suitable for smaller migrations with minimal modules.
MYOB Server Migration Standard: For more comprehensive migrations with multiple modules.
MYOB Server Migration Plus: For extensive migrations, with 3 or more modules.
MYOB Server Migration Live Cutover: For live cutover migrations.
MYOB Server Migration Adhoc: A flexible option for specific needs.
Business hours vs. out-of-hours: The timing of the migration can also influence the type of service. Migrations can be scheduled during business hours or out-of-hours to minimise downtime. Out-of-hours migrations incur additional costs due to paid overtime for team members.
Validation steps: For certain migrations, such as those involving tax compliance, validation steps are conducted to ensure the feasibility of the migration. This includes checking the availability of compliance forms and other necessary data.
Customisation and flexibility: The MYOB Server Migration Adhoc service provides flexibility for specific needs that do not fit into the standard migration packages.
By considering these factors, MYOB can determine the most appropriate migration service for your business, ensuring a smooth and efficient transition.
